Turmion Kätilöt ist eine finnische Metalband. Die Band wurde 2003 von MC Raaka Pee und Dj Vastapallo gegründet. Bald kamen die anderen Mitglieder von Turmion Kätilöt hinzu: Master Bates, Run-Q, DQ und Spellgoth als zweiter Sänger. Mit ein paar Besetzungswechseln, als Dj Vastapallo die Band 2009 verließ, ersetzt durch Bobby Undertaker an der Gitarre (ex-Deathchain) und Spellgoth 2017, ersetzt durch Shaq-U (Fear of Domination) am Gesang, wurde Turmion Kätilöt zur bedeuteten Disco Metal Maschine, die sie heute sind.

Zunächst einmal vielen Dank, dass ihr euch die Zeit genommen habt, die Fragen zu beantworten!
MC Raaka Pee: Danke, gleichfalls!
Shag-U: Es war in letzter Zeit nicht gerade viel los.

Wie geht es euch allen?
MC Raaka Pee: Entspannt und vielleicht Arbeit meiden.
Shag-U: Ein bisschen gelangweilt. Warten auf die Touren.
Master Bates: Gigs und ganze Touren neu planen, das ist Scheiße!
Viele beschreiben euch als eine Disco Metalband. Wie würdet ihr euch beschreiben, wenn euch die Leute nicht kennen würden?
MC Raaka Pee: Die Wahrheit, die dich zum Tanzen bringt;) DÄX DÄX! Tanzmusik im Metal-Genre, aber nicht in einem Tanzgenre. Und Genres interessieren uns nicht.
Shag-U: Denk nicht wirklich viel über Genres nach. Ich will nur gute Sachen machen;)
2017 verließ euch Spellgoth und es stieß Shaq-U als neuer Sänger zu euch. Wie seid ihr auf Shaq-U damals gekommen?
MC Raaka Pee: Früher habe ich das erste Album von Fear of Domination und einige Singles von meiner / unserer Plattenfirma Osasto-A Records veröffentlicht, also Shaq-u und ich kennen uns schon vor langer Zeit. Wir haben auch MetalOrgy Events zusammen gemacht.
Master Bates: Shag-U war eine offensichtliche Wahl, die beste verfügbare Wahl.
Doch ganz hat Spellgoth euch nicht verlassen, er arbeitet immer noch mit euch im Hintergrund zusammen. Stimmt es, dass er für euch die Cover Designs macht?
MC Raaka Pee: Ja, das tut er und auch Merchandise. Fast alle Grafiken sind in unseren Produkten enthalten.
Master Bates: Und er schließt sich immer noch dem FB-Chat der Band und der WhatsApp-Gruppe an.
Bevor ihr an einem neuen Album zu arbeiten anfangt, woher bekommt ihr die Inspiration? Und wer von euch hat die erste Idee dazu?
MC Raaka Pee: Normalerweise ich oder Run-Q, aber wir haben auch immer viele Songs parat. Wenn wir also nicht komponieren, gibt es immer Material, mit dem wir arbeiten können.
Shag-U: Es ist wirklich cool, wie MC oder RunQ jedes Mal mehr neue Sachen bringen.
Wer sind eure Idole in der Musikwelt, die euch persönlich inspiriert haben?
Shag-U: Wirklich schwer, hier bestimmte Namen zu nennen. . So viele gute Künstler. Das Charisma ist das Ding.
Welche Musik hört ihr noch außer Metal?
MC Raaka Pee: Alle Arten von elektronischer Musik. Alle Arten von Musik.
Shag-U: Alles was gut klingt, unabhängig vom Genre.
Master Bates: Ich höre gute Musik, es kann norwegischer Black Metal oder russischer Rap sein. Es ist mir egal, soweit es gut ist und es mich glücklich macht.
Sicherlich habt ihr noch andere Projekte neben TK am Start. Welche wären dies?
MC Raaka Pee: 2 Times Terror.
Shag-U: Fear of Domination und Stereo-Terror.
Meister Bates: Mötikkä (Mötley Crüe Hits übersetzt ins Finnische).
Habt ihr euch in eurer Kindheit schon mit Musik beschäftigt?
MC Raaka Pee: Ich habe im Alter von sechs Jahren angefangen, Spielklassen zu besuchen. Eine Orgel (an Organ) als Instrument. (Es war nicht die Leber).
Shag-U: Damals in der Schule war ich in jedem Musical-, Band- oder anderen Projekt, das Musik beinhaltete.
Master Bates: Sicher, wer nicht?
Mit Sicherheit habt ihr neben eurer Musik auch Hobbys, denen ihr in eurer Freizeit nach gehen könnt. Erzählt mal!
MC Raaka Pee: Ich komponiere, wenn ich „Freizeit“ habe. Nun, vielleicht könnte Kochen ein Hobby sein.
Shag-U: Mittelalterlicher Kampfsport und gerade mit Fallschirmspringen mit Master Bates begonnen.
Master Bates: Wie “Junior“ euch bereits sagte, ist Fallschirmspringen heutzutage das A und O.
Letztes Jahr im Dezember hat euch Nuclear Blast unter Vertrag genommen. Wie kam es dazu?
MC Raaka Pee: Es war sehr gut, danke! Wir fragten und sie antworteten. Wir haben verhandelt und eine Einigung erzielt. Toll!
Master Bates: Wir hatten ein wenig Hilfe von Ewo Pohjola (Till Dawn They Count), der sich bereits um Nightwish und Beast In Black kümmert.
Euer neues Album “Global Warning“ war 14 Wochen lang in den finnischen Album Charts. Aber es ist noch nicht Schluss damit, denn ihr seid seit 1 Woche ein Wiedereinsteiger der Charts! Wie war und ist eure Reaktion darauf?
MC Raaka Pee: Nun, jede Woche ist ein neuer Rekord für uns, also feiern jede Woche. Wir brauchten diese kleine Pause auf jeden Fall.
Master Bates: Eigentlich ist es schon seit 18 Wochen in der finnischen Albumchart. Die frühere Aufzeichnung mit Universal Satan war vor 7 Wochen. Also denke ich, wir sind jetzt irgendwie im nächsten Level?
Nach eurem großartigen Deal mit Nuclear Blast, werdet ihr heuer eure Landsleute von Nightwish bei ihrer Europa-Tour supporten. Wie kam es dazu, dass ihr mit der Band auf Tour gehen könnt?
MC Raaka Pee: Wir kennen Marko seit dem ersten TK-Album und arbeiten mit ihm zusammen. Unser Keyboarder Run-Q hat eine perversere Beziehung zu ihm. Er kann mehr erzählen, wenn er will.
Master Bates: Und auch in diesem Fall war Ewo irgendwie involviert 🙂
Und nächstes Jahr im Februar beginnt eure eigene Headliner-Tour. Wie aufgeregt seid ihr und wen wollt ihr als Support mitnehmen?
MC Raaka Pee: Die Konzerte werden Nacht für Nacht Hüften und Ärsche sprengen. Manchmal tanzen Menschen so hart, dass ihr Mittelkörper explodiert.
Shag-U: Ich erwarte nichts weniger als verrücktes Disco-Chaos!
Master Bates: Wir verhandeln immer noch mit ein paar Vorstellungen. Wir haben nur gute Optionen, also mach dir keine Sorgen!

Turmion Kätilöt is a metal band from Finland. The band was formed in 2003 by MC Raaka Pee and Dj Vastapallo. Soon they were joined by the other members of what would become Turmion Kätilöt: Master Bates, Run-Q, DQ and Spellgoth as a second vocalist. MC Raaka Pee: Relaxed and maybe avoiding work.
Shag-U: A bit bored. Waiting for the tours to happen.
Master Bates: Rescheduling gigs and whole tours, this is shit!
Many describe you as a disco metal band. How would you describe yourself if people didn’t know you?
MC Raaka Pee: The truth that makes you dance 😉 DÄX DÄX! Dance music in metal genre, but not stuck in one dance genre. And we don’t care about genre’s.
Shag-U: Don’t really think much of genres. I just want to make good stuff 😉
In 2017 Spellgoth left you and Shaq-U joined you as the new singer. How did you come across Shaq-U back then?
MC Raaka Pee: Earlier I released Fear of Domination’s first album and few singles by my/our record company Osasto-A Records, so Shaq-u and I know each other way back. We have done also MetalOrgy events together.
Master Bates: Shag-U was an obvious choice, best choice available.
But Spellgoth hasn’t left you entirely, he’s still working with you in the background. Is it true that he does the cover designs for you?
MC Raaka Pee: Yeah he sure does and merchandise also. Almost all the graphics there is in our products.
Master Bates: And he still joins bands FB-chat and WhatsApp-group.
Before you start working on a new album, where do you get your inspiration from and who of you has the first idea?
MC Raaka Pee: Usually me or Run-Q, but we also have lots of songs ready always. So when we don’t compose there is always material to work with.
Shag-U: It’s really cool how MC or RunQ manege to bring every time more new stuff.
Who are your idols in the music world who have personally inspired you?
Shag-U: Really hard to tell spesific names. So many good artists. The charisma is the thing.
What music do you listen to besides metal?
MC Raaka Pee: All kind of electronic music. All kind of music also.
Shag-U: Everything that sounds good regardless of the genre.
Master Bates: I listen to good music, it can be Norwegian black metal or Russian rap, I don’t care as far it’s good and it makes me happy.
You certainly have other projects at the start besides TK. Which would they be?
MC Raaka Pee: 2 Times Terror.
Shag-U: Fear of Domination and Stereo Terror.
Master Bates: Mötikkä (Mötley Crüe hits translated in Finnish).
Did you already deal with music in your childhood?
MC Raaka Pee: I started attending playing classes at the age of six. An organ as an instrument. (it was not the liver).
Shag-U: Back in the school I was in every musical-, band- or some other project that involved music.
Master Bates: Sure, who didn’t?
In addition to your music, you certainly have hobbies that you can pursue in your free time. Tell us!
MC Raaka Pee: I compose when i have ”free time”. Well maybe cooking could be a hobby.
Shag-U: Medieval Combat Sport and just started skydiving with Master Bates.
Master Bates: As “junior“ already told you, skydiving is name of the game nowadays.
Last December, Nuclear Blast signed you. How did that happen?
MC Raaka Pee: It happened very well thank you! We asked and they answered. We negotiated and reached an agreement. Great!
Master Bates: We had a little help from Ewo Pohjola (Till Dawn They Count) who already takes care of Nightwish und Beast In Black.
Your new album „Global Warning“ was in the Finnish album charts for 14 weeks. But it doesn’t stop there, because you’ve been back in the charts for 1 week! How was and is your reaction to it?
MC Raaka Pee: Well every week is a new record for us, so party every week. We needed that little rest for sure.
Master Bates: Actually it has been in Finnish album chart for 18 weeks already. Earlier record with Universal Satan was 7 weeks. So I think we are in next level now, somehow?
After your great deal with Nuclear Blast, you will be supporting your compatriots from Nightwish on their European tour this year. How did it come about that you can go on tour with the band?
MC Raaka Pee: We know and have been working with Marko after the first TK album. Our keyboard player Run-Q has more kinky relationship with him. He can tell more if he wants.
Master Bates: And also with this case, Ewo was somehow involved 🙂
And next year in February your own headlining tour will start. How excited are you and who do you want to take with you as support?
MC Raaka Pee: The concerts are going to blast hips and asses night after night. Sometimes people dance so hard that their middle body explodes.
Shag-U: I expect nothing less than crazy disco mayhem!
Master Bates: We are still negotiating with couple of opening acts. We have only good options, so don’t you worry!
