Wenn es bei einem Konzert VIP-Tickets gibt, ist das natürlich eine Enttäuschung für alle „normalen“ Fans, die früh da sind, um in die erste Reihe zu kommen. Aber manchmal ist die Enttäuschung auch auf Seiten der VIPs. So auch beim Skid Row-Konzert in München.
Hier verzögerte sich nämlich der VIP-Einlass um mehr als eine Stunde. Und die versprochene Soundcheck-Experience (die auch von außen ganz kostenlos durch das Fenster sichtbar war), beinhaltete nur eine völlig abgehobene Performance von zwei Songs, die später sowieso in der Setlist waren. Und schließlich wurden beim normalen Einlass die Securities nicht darüber informiert, dass die VIPs zuerst reindürfen, sodass sie sich wie jeder andere hinten anstellen mussten. Da konnten jeder froh sein, der sich kein VIP-Ticket gekauft hatte. Doch genug von den äußeren Umständen und mehr zur Musik.
Raygun Rebels
Los ging es mit dem lokalen Support Raygun Rebels aus Bruckmühl bei Rosenheim. Hier gab es klassischen Hard Rock mit einer Prise Pop-Punk (vergleichbar mit Green Day) zu hören. Nichts besonderes, aber auch nicht schlecht. Die Band hatte großen Spaß dabei. Und dieser Spaß steckte das ganz Publikum mit an.
Frontmann Danny Raygun hatte eine tolle Stimme zu bieten und spielte zwischenzeitlich auch Gitarre. Gegen Ende der Show gab es dann noch einen tollen Covermedley zu hören, der unter anderem Blue Suede Shoes von Elvis Presley und Johnny B. Goode von Chuck Berry beinhaltete. Sehr stark. Nach guten 40 Minuten war die Support-Show dann auch schon wieder vorbei.
Skid Row
Nun war es an der Zeit für die Headliner von Skid Row. Los ging es sehr hart mit „Slave to the Grind“. Das Publikum war sofort mit dabei und so ging es mit „The Threat“ direkt weiter. Der neue Sänger Erik Grönwall machte seine Sache hervorragend, wenn man es nicht wüsste, könnte man glatt glauben Original-Sänger Sebastian Bach stünde hier auf der Bühne.
Mit „Big Guns“ war dann der erste große Klassiker an der Reihe. Doch kein Halten mehr gab es spätestens bei „18 and Life“. Die grandiose Powerballade wurde von kompletten Publikum mitgeschmettert! Was dann folgte, war eine tolle Auswahl aus Songs des ersten (z.B. „Piece of Me“) und zweiten Albums (z.B. „Livin‘ on a Chain Gang“). Zwischendurch gab es dann mit „Psycho Therapy“ ein gelungenes Ramones-Cover, bei dem Bassist Rachel Bolan und Gitarrist Dave „Snake“ Sabo den Gesang übernahmen.
Da die Tour aber nach dem gerade veröffentlichten, neuen Album benannt war, war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis es den ersten neuen Song zu hören gab. Und tatsächlich kam nur wenig später der Titeltrack „The Gang‘s All Here“. Ein grandioser Live-Kracher! Nach „Monkey Business“ verließ die Band dann die Bühne. Doch nach sehr kurzer Zeit kehrten Skid Row für die Zugabe zurück. Und was für eine! Los ging es direkt mit der fantastischen Ballade „I Remember You“, die sehr emotional vom Publikum mitgesungen wurde. Mit „Time Bomb“ gab es dann noch einen neues Stück.
Aber der allerletzte Song „Youth Gone Wild“ stellte noch einmal alles bisher Gehörte in den Schatten, und zeigte ein weiteres Mal, warum Skid Row zu den absoluten Klassikerbands der Hard Rock/Heavy Metal zählen.
Nach dieser grandiosen Show dürfte auch der letzte Fan zufrieden gestellt sein, sogar die anfangs sehr enttäuschten VIPs. Da kann man nur hoffen, dass das neue Album nicht das letzte gewesen ist und man bald ein weiteres Album mit zugehöriger Tour erwarten kann.

When there are VIP tickets at a concert, it is of course a disappointment for all the „normal“ fans who are there early to get into the front row. But sometimes the disappointment is also on the side of the VIPs. This was also the case at the Skid Row concert in Munich.
Here, the VIP entrance was delayed by more than an hour. And the promised soundcheck experience (which was also visible from the outside through the window quite free of charge), included only a completely detached performance of two songs that were later in the setlist anyway. And finally, at the normal entrance, the securities were not informed that the VIPs were allowed in first, so they had to queue up like everyone else. So everybody who didn’t buy a VIP ticket could be happy. But enough about the external circumstances and more about the music.
Raygun Rebels
It started with the local support Raygun Rebels from Bruckmühl near Rosenheim. They played classic hard rock with a pinch of pop-punk (comparable to Green Day). Nothing special, but not bad either. The band had great fun with it. And this fun infected the whole audience.

Now it was time for the headliners of Skid Row. They started very hard with „Slave to the Grind“. The audience was immediately into it and so it went on directly with „The Threat“. The new singer Erik Grönwall did a great job, if you didn’t know it, you could believe that original singer Sebastian Bach was on stage.
With „Big Guns“ it was the turn of the first big classic. But there was no stopping at the latest with „18 and Life“. The grandiose power ballad was sung along by the entire audience! What followed was a great selection of songs from the first (e.g. „Piece of Me“) and second album (e.g. „Livin‘ on a Chain Gang“). In between there was a successful Ramones cover with „Psycho Therapy“, where bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave „Snake“ Sabo did the vocals.
But since the tour was named after the new album that had just been released, it was only a matter of time before the first new song was heard. And indeed, just a little later came the title track „The Gang’s All Here“. A terrific live cracker! After „Monkey Business“ the band then left the stage. But after a very short time Skid Row returned for the encore. And what a one! It started directly with the fantastic ballad „I Remember You“, which was sung along very emotionally by the audience. With „Time Bomb“ there was another new piece.
But the very last song „Youth Gone Wild“ once again eclipsed everything heard so far, and showed once again why Skid Row are among the absolute classic bands of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.
After this terrific show, even the last fan should be satisfied, even the VIPs who were very disappointed at the beginning. One can only hope that the new album was not the last one and that another album with a corresponding tour can be expected soon.
