Die Anfänge der Band fanden in einem Gebiet statt, in dem Metal und Rock eher ungewöhnlich waren. Wie war der Beginn für die Band?
Die Band bestand schon immer aus uns beiden, aber wenn wir Shows spielen müssen, können wir normalerweise ein paar Leute finden, die bereit sind, uns auf Tour zu helfen oder was auch immer. Aber ja, es kann schwierig sein, im westlichen North Carolina Gleichgesinnte zu finden, mit denen man arbeiten kann.
Bloody Hammers blicken auf eine 8-jährige Bandgeschichte zurück. Wie seht ihr die Entwicklung der Band in diesen acht Jahren?
Es hat sich wirklich nicht sehr viel geändert. Wir haben immer noch Spaß dabei, das zu tun, wozu wir uns inspiriert fühlen. Wir wollten uns nie auf nur ein Genre beschränken, deshalb ist es schön, dass wir uns in den letzten 8 Jahren kreativ ausprobieren konnten, und unser Label scheint das zu unterstützen.
„Under Satans Sun“ ist ein interessantes thematisches Album über die Legenden und Mythen von North Carolina. Wie habt ihr die Auswahl eingegrenzt? Wir vermuten, dass es weitaus mehr Mythen als Songs auf der CD gibt.
Zu dieser Zeit waren wir gerade erst in den westlichen Teil des Bundesstaates gezogen und ließen uns von einigen lokalen Geistergeschichten und Folklore inspirieren. Das war jedoch nicht unbedingt das Thema für das gesamte Album.
Gibt es eine bestimmte Geschichte, die euch so fasziniert, dass ihr diesem Thema ein ganzes Album widmen möchtet?
Zur Zeit nicht. Kreative Inspiration kommt zufällig, oft durch unerwartete Dinge.
Euer neues Album „Songs Of Unspeakable Terror“ wird nächstes Jahr veröffentlicht. Bitte erzählt uns etwas darüber.
Dieses Album ist ein kurzer Abstecher weg vom traditionellen Bloody Hammers-Sound und nicht als Nachfolger von ‚The Summoning‘ gedacht. Es war ein anderer Stil, den wir während der Pandemie ausprobiert haben.
Was ist euer Lieblingssong auf dem neuen Album? Und was macht ihn für euch so besonders?
Sie sind alle auf ihre Weise Lieblinge für uns. Das ist so, als würdet ihr versuchen zu entscheiden, welches eurer Kinder euer liebstes ist.

Da der Titel des Songs so ist, wie er ist, haben wir beschlossen, das Video nicht so ernst zu nehmen, um es auszugleichen.
Ihr habt bereit angekündigt, das Album auch als Vinyl zu veröffentlichen. Welches Medium verkauft sich im Allgemeinen besser: Vinyl oder CD? Und was bevorzugt ihr persönlich, Vinyl oder CD?
Vinyl hat sich in der Vergangenheit besser verkauft, aber in letzter Zeit haben die CD-Verkäufe zugenommen.
Gibt es einen Unterschied bei eurer Fangemeinde, wenn ihr in anderen Ländern auf Tour seid?
Alle Musikfans, die wir in den Ländern getroffen haben, in denen wir gespielt haben, waren wundervoll. Der größte Unterschied, den wir bemerkt haben, war, dass sich europäische Veranstaltungsorte normalerweise viel besser um die Bands kümmern, die bei ihnen auftreten, als die in den USA.
Gab es eine bestimmte Fanreaktion, an die ihr wirklich gerne zurückdenkt?
Ich würde sagen, das Download Festival in Großbritannien im Jahr 2014. An diesem Tag kam alles für uns zusammen. Viele Leute kannten die Songs und verloren ihren Verstand. Es war einfach ein perfekter Tag mit Ausnahme der dicken Luftfeuchtigkeit.

In the beginning the band was in an area, where Metal and Rock were rather rare. How was the start for the band?
The band has always been us two but if we need to play shows, we can normally find some people around who will agree to help us on tour or whatever. However, yes it can be tough in Western North Carolina finding like-minded people to work with.
Bloody Hammers are looking back on 8 years of band history. How do you see the development of the band over these eight years?
Not really too much has changed. We’re still having fun with it and doing whatever we feel inspired to do. We never wanted to be limited to just one genre so it’s nice to have been able to explore around creatively over the last 8 years, and our label seems to be supportive of that.
„Under Satans Sun“ is an interestingly themed album about the legends and myths of North Carolina. How did you narrow down the selection? We guess there are way more myths than songs on the CD.
At the time, we had recently moved to the western area of the state and were inspired by some of the local ghost stories and folklore. That was not strictly the theme for the entire album, though.
Is there a certain story that captivates you so much, that you’d like to dedicate an entire album to that topic?
Not at the moment. Creative inspiration comes randomly, often from unexpected things.
Your new album „Songs Of Unspeakable Terror“ will be released next year. Please, tell us something about it.
This album is a quick detour from the traditional Bloody Hammers sound, and is not intended as a follow up for ‚The Summoning‘. It was a different style to explore during the pandemic.
What’s your favorite song on the new album? And what makes it so special to you?
They are all favorites for us in their own way. That is like trying to choose which of your children is your favorite.

With the title of the song being what it is, we decided to make the video not so serious to balance it out.
The album is already announced as a vinyl too. Which article sells better in general: vinyl or CD? And what do you personally prefer, vinyl or CD?
Vinyl has sold better in the past, but there has been a recent increase in CD sales also.
Is there a difference in the fan base for you when you are on tour in other countries?
All the music fans we met in the countries we played in were wonderful. The biggest difference we noticed was that European venues typically take much better care of the bands they host than the US.
Was there a specific fan reaction you really like to think back on?
I’d say Download festival in the UK in 2014. Everything came together for us that day. Lots of people knew the songs and were losing their minds. It was just a perfect day other than the thick humidity.
